The event which also served as the unveiling of the network’s strategy, had strong government, private sector and development partner representation. The launch was officially kicked off by Dr. Chabi Eriolla Fulberte from the Agence Nationale de l’Alimentation et de la Nutrition (ANAN)/ The National Agency for Food and Nutrition, Ms. Emilie Tiboute, the Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Guillaume AGUETTAN, the Country Director of CARE Benin/Togo, H.E. Joris Jurriëns, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Benin and Mrs. SAYI Françoise, the Country Director of GAIN Benin. To mark the effective start of the network’s activities, the very first activity of the network was launched, namely the “Fortification Forward Innovation Challenge 2024“, following a presentation of the objectives, the process and the steps involved in participating in the challenge. One of the main aims of this presentation, which was led by Ritta Sabbas Shine the Global SBN Coordinator and Ruth Munyinyi the SBN Senior Associate for Partnerships, was to inform participants of the opportunities to become a partner in this first network activity. In Benin, the launch of SBN and its strategic framework for 2024-2029 is supported under the CASCADE Project, implemented by the CARE and GAIN consortium, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, to implement initiatives to increase demand for nutritious products.
