On 22 December 2011, the Republic of Indonesia joined the SUN Movement with a letter of commitment from HE Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, the Minister of Health. At the time, a central multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral coordinating SUN Forum had been established. As of 2017, business engagement evolved to a fully functioning network which now includes nutrition-specific and nutrition sensitive companies.

The current network strategy is to focus; First 1,000 Days of Life and Adolescence, Balanced Nutrition, and Health and Sanitation.

- Mobilise and invite private companies to support government priorities to scale up nutrition
- Grow membership to include non food companies
- Encourage multisectoral collaboration
