SUN Business Network Sri Lanka convened its members on 19th March 2024 to appoint its new Steering Committee for the period of 2024 – 2026, which was conducted physically at WFP Sri Lanka CO premises, with 25 participants including private sector SBN members and WFP officials. The Sri Lankan community of private sector members has grown to 200 as of April 2024, and the network is dedicated to consistently drive change in Nutrition by empowering private sector partnerships. The welcome address was delivered by UN World Food Programme Sri Lanka Deputy Country Director and Head of Programme – Mr. Gerard Rebello, who spoke about the vision of the WFP in supporting the SUN Business Network as a key actor in improving nutrition in Sri Lanka through multisectoral collaboration. The newly appointed SUN Business Network Sri Lanka will be led by Mr. J. Charitha Ratwatte Jr – Founder & Managing Director of Rural Returns (Guarantee) Limited & former Head – Group Sustainability at Dialog Axiata PLC. The Steering Committee is made up of representatives from six other Private Sector Businesses – Unilever Sri Lanka, Dialog Axiata PLC, Cargills Ceylon PLC, John Keells Holdings, Calorie Counter and Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL).
