SBN Global Members Offer Technical Assistance to Country Network Members

The SUN Business Network (SBN) aims to increase the availability and affordability of safe, nutritious foods, especially for low-income consumers in emerging markets through activities at global and national levels.

Over the last few months, the SBN has been working with its 22 Global Members to identify opportunities for business to business (B2B) technical assistance transfer programmes, so that our Global Members can share potential resources to support the identified needs of our Country Network members.

With over 400 members across 12 countries, SBN Country Networks, whose members are predominantly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), have consistently identified challenges accessing financial and technical assistance as major barriers to scaling and growing their businesses. The SBN aims to leverage its partnerships with some of the world’s largest multi-national companies to offer technical support to companies at a national level. The opportunities identified for B2B support from our Global Members are varied, ranging from reformulation, to food safety, as well as nutrition labelling, affordability and financial inclusion.

We have designed a technical assistance brief for all our Global Members which will be used by Country Networks and SMEs to quickly identify areas of technical expertise needed to provide safe nutritious food to local consumers and match their needs with the technical assistance offered by our Global Members.

We are very pleased to launch the first set of briefs presenting the potential technical assistance offers of five of our Global Members: Arla Foods IngredientsBASFDSMEdesia and Kellogg. We will roll out technical assistance offers from our other Global Members over the coming months – see the Global Members page for updates.

We look forward to facilitating successful B2B technical assistance transfer programmes to achieve better nutrition across all our country networks.
